In order to perform a charger reset, you must have an Admin level user role or higher.

At the top of the detail page, you have options to edit, reset, and request service on each charger. Click on 'Reset' to perform a charger reset.

When resetting a charger, you have the option to either perform a reset immediately, or delay the reset to avoid any disruptions to active charging sessions.

Hardware Restart: This will perform a full hardware unit power cycle.

Some general notes to consider, a soft reset is often used to try and recover any interrupted sessions or put the charger back to a preparing status. A hard reset is used to clear any faults.

Note: Resetting a charger will put it into an unavailable status while it goes through its entire reset cycle. The reset cycle can take up to fifteen minutes before connectivity Is restored and unit is operational again.

If a charger is offline, you won't be able to perform a reset until it reconnects to the network.

You may not be able to perform a reset on chargers that are set up with credit card or app payment options.

Example Scenario

Issue: The charger is not starting a session despite being connected to a vehicle.

  1. Check Charger Status: All statuses should be green and say
    • Charger link status:  'Connected'
    • OCPP status: 'Available'
    • Commissioning status: 'Commissioned'
    • Managed Status:  'Active'
    • Live/Test: 'Live'
    • Connector State: 'Available'

    2. Observe Connector Status: Ensure the connector shows "Available".

Possible solution: If everything looks correct but the issue continues, and you have the necessary permissions, try performing a hard reset on the charger. If the problem persists, submit a service request for the charger.

By following these steps, you can effectively troubleshoot and resolve common charger issues using the Charger Detail screen in the InControl charge management system. For additional help, please contact support@inchargeus.com.
