In this section, we will guide you through the process of linking your utility rate plan with InControl for sites located in California. Our utility rates feature enables California users to automatically connect to their local utility rate plans, providing more accurate cost estimates and streamlined planning.
If your site is outside of California, you can still use this feature by manually adding your utility rates. Detailed instructions for the manual setup can be found in the ‘Manually Adding Utility Rates’ section of this user guide.

Steps to link your Utility Rates:

1. Navigate to Utility Rates on your menu bar

  • This section provides an overview of all Utility Rates connected to your sites.
  • You can review details such as utility rate names, creation dates, the number of seasons covered, utility company, and available actions.

2. Click on "Add Utility Rate"

To start adding your utility rate, click on 'Add Utility Rate.' This will guide you through a series of steps to sync your utility rate with your account.

3. Select an Account and Site

After clicking the 'Add Utility Rate' button, you'll be prompted to select the account and its associated site for linking a utility rate. If you have multiple accounts, start by choosing the correct one, then select the relevant site.

4. Choose the utility rate plan that corresponds to your selected site

Find the name of your utility plan on your utility bill or through your utility provider's online portal. The available rate plans are populated based on your site's ZIP code. Simply start typing the rate name, and the correct plan will auto-populate based on your input for easy selection (e.g. TOU-GS-1-E).

To identify the exact Utility Plan, refer to How to Find Your Utility Rate Plan article. Alternatively, contact support@inchargeus.com with your Account ID, Service ID / Meter ID, and a copy of your latest utility bill.

5. Once you have selected the correct utility rate plan click on 'Save Changes' in the top right corner.

It may take a few minutes for the rate plan to be populated and saved.

6. Once loaded review the details of the utility rate you've added to your account.

Make sure to review that the rate name, account, and site are correct.

Note: You will not have access to editing this rate plan as it is auto-populated and updated.

7. The rate is now created and applied to the site. Here are some tips for navigating and using the utility rate plan within your account

Now that you've created this rate plan in InControl, you can assign it to multiple sites that share the same plan. For detailed instructions, refer to the 'Linking Utility Rates on the Site Details Page' section in this user guide.
