Tracking Energy Costs in Reports

Your estimated energy costs are available across all reporting charts. To display this information, make sure to include it when managing columns by selecting 'Energy Cost, $'.

The Energy Cost, $ column calculates costs based on the price per kWh set in your Utility Rates calendar.

What is kWh (Kilowatt-hours)?

kWh measure the total energy consumed over time. In EV charging, it represents the exact amount of energy dispensed during a charging session. This is the unit used to calculate your energy cost, typically reflected as price per kWh on your utility bill.

Think of kWh like time spent charging, the longer you charge (or the more energy used), the higher the energy cost.

This will allow you to track the estimated cost per completed session, providing a baseline for how much each charging session costs. This insight helps you determine whether you're charging at optimal times. It is also a great way to compare how our smart charging or load management rules have been helping you save on cost.

This information is useful for analyzing the cost per charging session and reviewing weekly, monthly, or quarterly expenses by charger or vehicle. It also helps identify if adjusting your charging patterns could reduce costs during time-of-use periods, such as on-peak hours.

Below is an example of a sessions report grouped by vehicle to determine which uses the most energy over time.

InCharge does not provide any representation or warranty regarding decisions made based on these estimates.
