Before You Start

  • Make sure the vehicle you are linking has charged at least once so that the EVCCID exists in your session data
  • Confirm you have a Admin level role to add/edit vehicles

From here, there are two paths to linking EVCCIDs with vehicles. You can either:

  • Start from scratch and add a new vehicle that needs to be associated with an EVCCID
  • Or, link an EVCCID to a vehicle you have already created in InControl

Create a New Vehicle and Link the EVCCID

1. Begin by navigating to the recent session, to review and copy the EVCCID that the was collected during the charging session.

2. Navigate to the 'Vehicles' page on your menu bar to begin adding a new vehicle

2. Click on the " + Add Vehicle " button

3. This will prompt the Add Vehicle form where you can include all relevant information about the vehicle

Vehicle Name: Enter a name that you would like to identify the vehicle as (e.g., B012).

Site: Select a site that this vehicle will be associated with.

Vehicle Identification Number (VIN): Enter your vehicle's VIN number, if your vehicle is found, InControl will prompt associated data to autofill (Vehicle make, model, year, range, and battery capacity). If you would like to include this information manually select "no".

4. Search or paste the EVCCID from the recent session to Link it to this vehicle (e.g., 0C86C701B60B)

5. Once you have added the associated EVCCID, click save.

Now you have successfully added, and linked an EVCCID to a vehicle!

What happens next

  • All sessions with this EVCCID are automatically grouped under the vehicle B012.

  • The Vehicles widget shows a single, clean record for B012 when it’s charging.

  • Reports and exports roll up energy and session totals to B012.

  • The EV Controller ID appears on the vehicle details if you need to verify it.

Match EVCCID with an Existing Vehicle

1. Identify the Vehicle that needs to be linked to its associated EVCCID

2. Click on the "Link Vehicle" button under EV Controller ID. This will prompt a list of EVCCIDs available to link to this vehicle.

3. Select the appropriate EVCCID to link to this vehicle.

4. Select "Link" to complete the EVCCID linkage to the vehicle.

Once you have linked the EVCCID to the vehicle, all charging-related information will now be associated with that specific vehicle.

You can group and review session data and reports per vehicle helping improve your operations.

Example of Sessions report grouped by vehicle.

⚠️ Important: Link the correct EVCCID

The EVCCID you select becomes this vehicle’s identifier. If you link the wrong EVCCID, any time the other vehicle (the one that the EVCCID actually belongs to) charges, its session will appear under this vehicle—leading to incorrect status, usage history, and reports.

Verify before you link

  • Open a recent Session for this vehicle and copy the EVCCID from the session details.
  • Confirm the site/charger and timestamp match the vehicle’s last charge.
  • Match obvious details (make/model/VIN if available).
  • Copy the entire EVCCID.

Linked the wrong EVCCID?

  • Open the incorrect vehicle → Edit Vehicle → remove/unlink the EVCCID → Save.
  • Open the correct vehicle → Link EVCCID using the value from a recent session.
